Monroeville Municipal Authority News

As of January 1, 2011, the Monroeville Municipal Authority has completed the rehabilitation program on all Authority water storage facilities. This process included sandblasting and application of a three coat paint system on the interior and exterior of the storage tanks. The program was completed with in the allotted budget and should service the Monroeville Municipal Authority for many years to come. The Monroeville Municipal Authority is currently upgrading 2,700 feet of 8” cast iron pipe with a 12” ductile iron pipe on Monroeville Boulevard This project should be completed by August 1, 2011. Beginning in February 2011 the Monroeville Municipal Authority will begin replacing approximately 800 older residential meters with Sensus high flow I-Perl meters. All employees will have Monroeville Municipal Authority identification and customers will be notified by Authority office.

The Monroeville Municipal Authority Sewer Division continues to work on compliance with the DEP consent order which must be completed by 2012. The work associated with this includes televising, mapping, and evaluating main sanitary sewer lines, manhole rehabilitation, and repairing problems found during this process. The dye testing phase of the consent order was completed in the summer of 2007. If you are planning on selling your home, please be advised that the dye testing completed in conjunction with the consent order does not fulfill the requirements of the home sale dyetest.The Sewer Division is currently involved in a re-lining contract with Insight Pipe and is concentrating efforts on the defective lines which have been discovered to date. This work will not affect your water or sewer services.Please remember if you experience any sanitary sewer problems, call the Monroeville Municipal Authority before calling a plumber.
